Question: Who can apply to be emancipated in Arizona?

Answer: You must be sixteen or seventeen-years-old to apply for emancipation. You have to be a resident of Arizona and be able to prove that you can support yourself. The court will give you information about the risks and consequences of being emancipated as well as your rights and obligations as an emancipated minor. You cannot apply for emancipation if you are a ward of the court or in the custody of a state agency.

Hi im a 15 year old and my mother is an alcholic. My father passed away when i was 13 and since then life has been compleatly irrational and out of control. I have family i could live with who will adopt me if needed, but i would need my mothers permition for that, thats why i would rather be emancipated. I just need to know who i need to go to to start the process. I have an entire portfolio of awards, grades, and a 4 page letter explaining my circumstances, as well as an essay on why i would like to be emancipated. Can you tell me where i need to go to give this information? Thank You
