Mock Trial: Preparing Your Students for the Trial

Event Overview

This training will be held in conjunction with the Arizona Mock Trial State Competition. Participants of this training will have the opportunity to view multiple rounds of the competition and watch the students live in action!  In addition, they will receive hands on advice and strategies from an experienced Mock Trial teacher on how to implement Mock Trial in the classroom.  If you are interested in starting a Mock Trail program at your school or enhance your existing program then this training is for you!  Educators looking to compete in the Mock Trial Program or educators interested in teaching their students about the court system should also attend.  Lessons and activities will provide a starting point for the Mock Trial Program and basic courtroom knowledge. 

Training Objectives:

  • Gain an insider’s perspective on courtroom procedures 
  • Learn strategic thinking and questioning skills
  • Gain resources to assist in mock trial implementation 
  • Prepare students to participate in Arizona’s Mock Trial Competition

Campus Issues Addressed:

  • Lack of school involvement 
  • Lack of understanding of legal consequences
  • Lack of understanding rights and responsibilities
  • Lack of understanding the judicial system
