Mock Trial 101 Academy

Event Overview

Participants will receive hands on advice and strategies from an experienced Mock Trial teacher on how to implement Mock Trial in the classroom. Educators looking to compete in the Mock Trial Program or educators interested in teaching their students about the court system should attend. Lessons and activities will provide a starting point for the Mock Trial Program and basic courtroom knowledge. 

Training Objectives:

• Gain an insider’s perspective on courtroom procedures 
• Learn critical analysis of problems
• Learn strategic thinking and questioning skills
• Gain skills in preparing and organizing material
• Gain resources to assist in mock trial implementation 
• Prepare students to participate in Arizona’s Mock Trial Competition

Campus Issues Addressed:

• Lack of school involvement 
• Lack of understanding of legal consequences
• Lack of understanding rights and responsibilities
• Lack of understanding the judicial system
