Power of Passengers

Event Overview

Being the driver carries great responsibility to make certain everyone inside the vehicle gets safely to their destination.  Have your students ever considered the role passengers play in making the ride safe?  This training will provide participants with interactive methods to educate youth on the responsibilities the driver and the passengers have to ensure a safe ride.  The lessons provided will address the general safety considerations while riding in a car, ways to avoid distracting the driver and legal consequences for disobeying safe driving practices.  Students will also learn the proper actions during a traffic stop and how to cope with peer pressure to ride in an unsafe situation. 

Training Objectives:

• Educate students on the importance of safety while riding in a car
• Learn how to be a safe passenger while others are driving
• Teach students how to avoid dangerous driving situations 

Campus Issues Addressed:

• Lack of understanding rights and responsibilities
• Lack of appreciation for surrounding community
• Peer Pressure
• Unsafe driving
• Lack of respect for other drivers on campus
