Duane’s educational experiences are as varied as the undulation landscape of his youth growing up in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania.  He received his associate degree in Aerospace Sciences from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelors of Science degree from The University of the State of New York – Albany and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Troy University, Alabama.  He has accumulated 32 years of teaching experience which ranges from the Department of Defense Academic and technical schools, as well as, an Adjunct English professor for technical English in the Computer Engineering Department of the Bremerhaven Hocheschule, West Germany.  He worked 19 years as a middle school teacher in the Cartwright School District in Phoenix Arizona; where he also served as team lead and Professional Learning Community coach. He plans to continue teaching in the Public Schools System until his state license expires in 2018. He continues to serve at the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education as a Mentor teacher in their Summer Institutes and various seminars on the subjects of Law-related Education and the Citizen and the Constitution.  During his time in the classroom, he received many awards and certifications to include the John J. Ross Award for Teacher Excellence in Law Related Education and he graduated from the NEH National Academy, Loyola-Marymount University, California.  He is a certified Foundation “Teach the Teacher” coach and a Department of Defense Human Relations and Equal Opportunity Specialist.

His personal and professional experiences have served as an educational cauldron, which gave him a voice with something to say about education.  He is adamant about all aspects of education but not at the expense of the good of the human beings who must navigate through its learning experience.  He is eager to speak with anyone who has a genuine interest in making real substantive change in our education system.  He currently lives in Litchfield Park Arizona with his better two-thirds, Wendy Phifer, and writing and reading about the various ways that people effectively learn.
