MI CASA ES SU CASA

Everyone loves a great vacation and with vacation rentals like VRBO and Airbnb joining the ranks of hotels the places to stay seem endless. In Arizona, the red rocks of Sedona are a famed destination where vacationers and residents alike enjoy the spectacular scenery and cooler temperatures the city has to offer. However, Sedona residents say state law A.R.S. 9-500.39, passed in 2016, is changing the landscape and feel of Sedona and the local residents are not happy. A.R.S. 9-500.39 mandated that Sedona, who had banned residential vacation rentals since 1995, remove the ban and allow properties to be utilized in such a manner. Now many residents argue that the law has allowed investors to move into neighborhoods and buy up multiple homes, driving up local housing costs and overall changing neighborhood dynamics. They are asking lawmakers to put the control back into the cities hands so they can decide their own laws like they did in the past. People who enjoy the vacation rental law say it provides individuals and the city with an additional revenue stream. What do you think?
