Virtual New Officer Training

Event Overview

This four-day virtual training covers community-oriented policing, the role of the school-based officers, and an introduction to Law Related Education (LRE) as an essential prevention tool. Day 1 begins with Leadership 100, where School Resource Officers and Juvenile Probation Officers attend training with other grantees (administrators, CSWs, and officers). Day 2 covers child and brain development, trauma-informed practices, and best practices for officers in schools. Days 3 and 4 take participants on a deep dive into Law Related Education, providing officers with classroom management techniques, space to share ideas and lesson plans, and knowledge of learning styles. Day 4 will also include working with students in special education. Officers leave with resources and tools ready to teach in the classroom.

Important Note: It is one registration for all four days of the New Officer Training. Do not register separately for Leadership 100. Registering for New Officer Training will automatically register you for Leadership 100.

Required Attendance

Officers NEW to the program in FY 2026 OR who joined the program previously but did not attend the New Officer Training. If you work at a school located within Maricopa County, please do not register for this virtual training as you are required to attend an in-person training.
