New Officer Training

Event Overview

This four-day in-person training covers program requirements, statutorily required training for school-based officers, the role of the school-based officers, and an introduction to Law Related Education (LRE) as an essential prevention tool. Day 1 begins with the role and responsibilities of the SRO and JPO. Day 2 is an in-depth training on Foundations in School Safety, where officers learn how their campus will increase safety and about the history and development of the School Safety Program with their site’s administrator. Days 3 and 4 take participants on a deep dive into Law Related Education, providing officers with classroom management techniques, space to share ideas and lesson plans, and knowledge of learning styles.
