What is JMLPE?

The James Madison Legacy Project Expansion Program (JMLPE) is designed to provide lessons, activities, and training for teachers to make the We the People program more accessible English language learners (ELLs), students of color, and students with disabilities.

Who Can Participate?

25 middle and high school civics, social studies, American history, or government teachers who have not attended a We the People Summer Institute and have not had teams participate in a We the People competition or showcase can apply to participate. Participants will need a willingness to learn and the ability to implement the program.

The JMLPE uses the We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution program. Please take a look at the table of contents of the curriculum and see if what you will teach in the fall will cover a majority of the same content. If it does, then your class may qualify. Since the program is an evaluation, it is important that the classes teach to the same content.
