CSI Arizona: Cracking the Case with Forensic Science

Overview:

This academy will equip educators with the skills to bring crime scene investigations (CSI) to life in their classrooms or after-school clubs! Participants will learn the basics of teaching crime scene investigation, evidence collection, and witness questioning. They will explore strategies to teach students how to effectively process crime scenes and analyze various types of evidence. CSI combines law and STEM, making it an excellent way to bring law into science lessons. Help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they work to solve crimes and present their findings! Participants will receive free materials to teach CSI and will learn about the opportunity to participate in the 2027 CSI Arizona Competition for middle and high school students. 

School Safety Program funded officers are welcome to attend, but this training will not fulfill their yearly training requirement.

Academy Objectives:  

• Understand the fundamental steps of crime scene investigation
• Explore strategies for teaching evidence collection and analysis
• Gain resources to support CSI implementation in the classroom or after-school setting
• Learn about the CSI Arizona Competition
