Kids Voting AZ Election Launch Party

Event Overview

Let’s get youth excited about the upcoming election by celebrating with fellow students and teachers throughout Arizona! The Arizona Bar Foundation is hosting a live, virtual Kids Voting AZ Launch Party on September 25, 2020 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm! The launch party will feature all of the following fun activities:

  • Virtual tour of the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center
  • Voting related games and trivia
  • Chances for students to win prizes including gift cards
  • A mini iCivics AZ E-Tournament
  • Opportunities to showcase your schoolwide polling site
  • Interviews with student leaders

We will interact with all participating schools and your student leaders have the chance to take charge and be a part of civics in action. Teachers, we are counting on you to get students excited about voting! 20 schools can participate in the launch party and will receive the following resources if they commit to hosting a schoolwide election on September 25, 2020. Resources will be provided by the Foundation but must be picked up by participating teachers at a designated location and time.

Resources Provided

  • $100 Visa gift card (to help make your election more festive)
  • 8 voting booths
  • Polling site decorations
  • Electronic Voter IDs or school code if voting online
  • “I Voted” stickers for all students
  • Pocket Constitutions and gavel pencils
  • Live schoolwide voting progress reports will be posted online

*Only one teacher per school will be eligible to receive the resources. If you have already received voting booths from the Foundation, we will not be able to provide you with additional booths for your school. As this is a schoolwide election, we are counting on teachers to collaborate and make this a fun experience for all students on campus!

Event Participation

This is a first come first serve opportunity for 20 elementary, middle, and/or high schools in Arizona. Public, charter, and private schools are all invited to participate. Participating schools must host a schoolwide election on September 25, 2020. Not all students are required to vote in-person. You may have some vote remotely and some vote in-person. You may use both online and paper ballots if you choose. Foundation staff will be available to provide tips and guidance on hosting a schoolwide election.
