Tech Safety in Your Community

Event Overview

Students may know more about how to use technology than their parents and teachers. However, they may lack the knowledge to utilize the features on social media platforms in safe ways. This academy is geared towards the legal guardians of students. The lessons will provide directions for setting safety controls on phones, streaming sites, and apps. Participants will also learn strategies to be informed on their student’s social media accounts. Practice with communicating effectively with youth that maintains a trusting relationship will also be covered in this academy. Participants will receive 6 universal lessons in lieu of a six-lesson cohort. These universal lessons can be implemented separately during parent nights or staff development or as a series, implemented at separate times.
