JMLPE Control Teachers

James Madison Legacy Project Expansion requires control teachers to help evaluate the effectiveness of the program. Control teachers can earn a $350 stipend for taking an online teacher knowledge pre-survey and post-survey and administering online student pretests and posttests. The Foundation does not receive the survey results.

To be eligible to be a control teacher, you must:

  • teach a class, such as social studies or American Government, in grades 6-12 that aligns with the We the People curriculum (see table of contents linked below).
  • have at least one class composed of 30% or more students of color, 30% or more ELLs, and/or 50% or more students with disabilities during the 2024-2025 school year.
  • NOT use the We the People (WTP) curriculum or have attended a multi-day WTP training.
