CSI Arizona is a Forensic Science program that combines science and law to provide students the opportunity to develop skills in both fields through the application of crime scene analysis, evidence gathering, and critical thinking. Students are able to engage in practical experience of applying the law and science to real life scenarios.
Volunteer Need: Judges (forensic professionals and police officers) and scripted witnesses.
Judges must be police officers with crime scene experience or forensic science professionals. There will be a detailed orientation the day of.
Morning judge orientation begins at 7 am, with check in at 6:45 am. Breakfast and coffee are provided.
Afternoon judge orientation begins at 11:30 am, with check in at 11:15 am. Lunch is provided.
Judges will be done for the day at approximately 3:30 pm.
Times are tentative and may change as event details are finalized.
Witnesses do not need specific experience but must be comfortable role playing and following a script. They will receive the script a week prior to the event and will have an orientation the day of.
Tentative witness orientation will begin at 11:30am. Check in at 11:15am. Lunch will be provided.
Witnesses will be needed from approximately 11:15 am - 2 pm.
What does volunteering for CSI Arizona entail?
- Judges will observe student crime scene investigations and evaluate performance based on a rubric. Judges must be forensic professionals or police officers.
- Scripted witnesses will follow a script to participate in the interrogation section of the student Crime Scene Investigation.
