Arriving at Court
After going through security, visitors can check the board in the lobby to see which courtroom their case is assigned to. Visitors can then find their courtroom and check in with the bailiff. It is common to arrive 20–30 minutes early, or even earlier if there is a scheduled meeting with an attorney. All youth are legally entitled to an attorney. If one is not already assigned, the court will provide an attorney to represent the individual. The attorney will handle any necessary documents and present them to the judge during the hearing.
Juvenile court hearings are scheduled on specific days, though the calendar can shift based on the court’s needs. Delinquency cases are generally held on Mondays and Wednesdays, with hearings starting at either 9:00 AM or 1:30 PM. Dependency cases are usually scheduled on Tuesdays and may take place during multiple time blocks throughout the day.
*Please note, this tour was conducted in the spring of 2025. Times and types of hearings may change or be different depending on the individual case. Please contact the court or the youth’s attorney directly to confirm.
