Lobby

After going through security, visitors sit in this lobby and wait for the bailiff to call their name when it is time for their hearing. There is no need to sign in—simply find a seat and wait to be called. All youth for these hearings are legally entitled to an attorney. If one is not already assigned, the court will provide an attorney to represent the individual. The attorney will handle any necessary documents and present them to the judge during the hearing.

The schedule for juvenile court hearings varies depending on the type of case—whether it’s a dependency case or a delinquency case.

  • Detention hearings for new delinquency cases are generally held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 9:00 a.m., with additional hearings on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
  • Dependency cases are regularly heard on Tuesdays.
  • The first hearing for any juvenile case can take place on any day of the week.
  • Most delinquency cases are scheduled for hearings on Thursdays.
  • Adjudication hearings (where the court determines whether the youth is responsible for the charges) can be held any day of the week.
