Upon arrival, juveniles are transitioned from police custody to the care of the Center. The Center's staff assume responsibility for their health and safety, and youth are expected to adhere to established rules. When Center staff are ready, youth can call a parent, guardian, Department of Child Safety (DCS) caseworker, or legal counsel upon entry to the facility.
Upon entering the Center, youth go through an intake process to ensure their safety and well-being. Staff collect basic information, including residence and guardianship details. Medical, mental health, and suicide screenings are conducted to assess immediate needs. This process helps staff determine appropriate care and supervision while the youth is in custody.
Upon arrival, a youth’s personal belongings are securely stored in a camera monitored control room managed by staff responsible for facility security. Clothing is stored separately in a designated area to keep items safe and organized.
