Education/Programming

The multi-purpose room serves various functions, including hosting classes, programming sessions, recreation, and physical activities.

The Center prioritizes the educational needs of its youth. Students attend school 7:25 am to 1:30 pm each weekday, including during the summer. There are six class period total. The first four periods are math, ELA, science, and social studies. The remaining two periods offer a blend of enrichment, study hall, life skills, or physical education classes.

Center staff actively assist youth in preparing for life beyond their stay, offering support in obtaining a GED through test practice packets and providing education on employment preparation. A transition meeting is conducted prior to a youth's departure, involving Center staff, teachers, probation officers, counselors, parents, and the student to help facilitate a successful return to their home school.

Youth are allocated at least one hour daily for programming activities, with decisions on these activities made by pod managers. Past programming activities have included arts and crafts, documentaries, puzzles, and book clubs. Occasionally, unique experiences such as therapy dog and therapy goat visits are arranged. Additionally, youth engage in hands-on activities related to their core classes, such as designing houses made of popsicle sticks to enhance math skills and foster an understanding of architecture, building airplanes to explore science and aerodynamics, and planning food truck businesses to gain insights into health and business concepts.
