      Connecting With Classrooms

      What better way to make the U.S. Constitution come alive than by having a member of the legal community share their expertise with your students? The Arizona Bar Foundation is once again mobilizing our volunteers to visit classrooms during the week of Constitution Day (September 17th). Sign up is available July - August.


      EDUCATORS

      To request a guest speaker from the legal community during the week of September 17th, please follow the instructions below:

      1. Click the "Constitution Day!" box on the Connecting with Classrooms page menu and select "Sign Up!" from the side menu on the Constitution Day page (this page) to access the form to enter your information. *Please be sure to scroll across and provide all the necessary information to connect you with the volunteer.
      2. Once educators and volunteers have completed the sign-up form, the foundation staff will send an introductory e-mail connecting the volunteer and educator.
      3. Make sure to communicate with your guest speaker to schedule a time and location.
      4. Prepare a fun lesson/activity for your classroom experience with your guest speaker. We have a variety of lesson plans you can assess by clicking the "Lesson Plans" tab on the side menu.
      5. The Foundation will provide special incentives for the students which will be provided to the guest speaker.
      6. Confirm your visit the day before with an e-mail or phone call.

      Know of other educators who might be interested? Please share this information with them!


      ATTORNEY & JUDGE VOLUNTEERS

      Constitution Week is the week of September 17. To volunteer as a guest speaker in a classroom during that week, please follow the instructions below:

      1. Visit https://lawforkids.org/volunteers/connecting-with-classrooms/volunteer-signup and click register.
      2. Follow instructions to login or register for an account.
      3. Please enter your information and availability so that the Foundation can connect you with a local classroom.
      4. If you would like to take pocket constitutions and gavel pencils with you during your classroom visit, please use the publications request form at this link to request these items.
      5. A Foundation employee will connect with you to sign up for a local classroom and coordinate event details.

      *Creating a login will be a one-time process only and will provide you access to all programs available on LawForKids.org.


      NEXT STEPS

      Once Educators and Volunteers have completed the sign-up form, the foundation staff will send an introductory email connecting the volunteer and educator.  


      FINALIZING YOUR VISIT

      1. Make sure to communicate with your guest speaker/teacher to schedule a time and location.
      2. Prepare a fun lesson/activity for your classroom experience with your guest speaker/teacher.
