Intake

Juveniles who have allegedly committed a delinquent act are brought into the facility by police through a special driveway and escorted to a designated secure entrance. Staff from the center must open the door from the inside. When youth enter the facility, they are brought into the intake center.

At this point, custody is transferred from the police to the juvenile detention center staff. The center's staff assume responsibility for the youth’s health and safety, and youth are expected to adhere to established rules. When the Center staff are ready, youth can call a parent, guardian, or legal counsel upon entry to the facility.

Upon entering the juvenile detention center, youth go through an intake process to ensure their safety and well-being. Staff collect basic information, including residence and guardianship details. Medical, mental health, and suicide screenings are conducted to assess immediate needs. Youth’s personal belongings are securely stored in designated cubbies.
