School

Prescott Lakes School is within the facility for detained youth. It is fully accredited, and students can pursue both graduation with a diploma or obtaining a GED in the school. This online based school creates a curriculum for each of the juveniles determined by their needs, school records, and assessment of skills. The school features a principal, 2 teachers – one of whom is a certified Special Education teacher who can accommodate both IEP and 504 needs, and a registrar. Based on the need, juveniles are working on credit recovery to prepare to return to their school outside of the facility or working on advancing their studies while out of their normal school. In addition, within the school area is the library. The library is equipped with books at various reading and interest levels. Depending upon the behavior level of the youth, the higher the level, the more books they can check out.

As students progress through the Prescott Lakes School, when they are ready, GED testing is available. Once they have attained a high school diploma, the Center has partnered with Rio Salado College to offer a limited number of courses to the youth. During the COVID crisis, students remained on schedule with their progress.
