Upon arrival, juveniles are transitioned from police custody to the care of the Center. The center's staff assume responsibility for their health and safety, and youth are expected to adhere to established rules. Youth can call a parent, guardian, or legal counsel upon entry to the facility.

Youth are asked a series of questions covering demographic details, medical history, substance abuse background, and any affiliations with gangs. They are also questioned about their residence, guardianship, and specific needs.

Personal belongings are collected, placed in bags, and stored in a secure room under camera surveillance. Valuables receive additional protection within a smaller, enclosed area within this room to ensure heightened security.
