Event Overview

Annual SSO Training shall introduce School Safety Officers (SSO) to the philosophy of the School Safety Program, ADE program personnel, 3 roles of a SSO and its alignment to the SRO position, Law Related Education (especially the ‘best practices’ and introduction to Universal LRE lessons), as well as how to work most effectively within the SSPT (school safety and prevention team) on each campus. Finally, officers will learn how to effectively interact with students with disabilities per ARS 15-154, 15-120.05, and 15-761.

Required Attendance

All officers who have not completed Annual SSO training in FY 2026. Current SSP funded SROs/JPOs are not required to attend and are not eligible for this training.

All SSOs must complete the SSO Training prior to accepting any shifts as an SSO at a school.

Please note that the Asynchronous Training has been eliminated and is no longer required to be completed.
