Mock Mediation: Online Training Series

Mock Mediation: Online Training Series

Mock mediation uses fictional legal disputes to teach youth how to identify the root of the issue, brainstorm solutions, effectively communicate possible solutions, and collaborate to reach an agreement between parties. The skills learned can be utilized both in and out of the classroom to reduce conflict on campus. This series will provide middle and high school educators with the foundation to implement Mock Mediation in the classroom. Attendees will learn about the format of mock mediation, its role in the practice of law, and negotiation strategies to teach youth. Explore the roles of mediator, advocate, and client and develop an understanding of the components of mediation using a balanced viewpoint. Mediation allows students to learn about alternative dispute resolution, advocacy skills, and compromise. Strengthen students’ understanding of the legal system by incorporating mediation in the classroom!

The Arizona Mock Mediation State Tournament will be hosted in November 2024. This series will help educators prepare their students for the tournament but attendees of the series will not be required to compete. Participants are not required to attend all 5 sessions in the series but those who do, will receive $100 in educational materials. (Arizona teachers only)
