Mock Mediation: Online Training Series
This Academy is for educators who serve a middle and high school population. Only educators may attend (no students).
Event Overview
Mock mediation uses fictional legal disputes to teach youth how to identify the root of the issue, brainstorm solutions, effectively communicate possible solutions, and collaborate to reach an agreement between parties. The skills learned can be utilized both in and out of the classroom to reduce conflict on campus. This series will provide middle and high school educators with the foundation to implement Mock Mediation in the classroom.

Students Create Change
This Academy is for educators who serve an upper elementary/middle/high school population. Mileage reimbursement up to $150 is available on a first come first serve basis to those traveling 100 miles or more one-way to attend the training. A limited amount of substitute reimbursement is available on a first come first serve basis while supplies last.
Event Overview
This training uses the Project Citizen: Community Engagement in Public Policy program to engage youth in cooperative, project-based learning. Through participation, students are empowered to create positive change in their communities. By undertaking projects to address community needs, educators and students will gain a deeper understanding of public policy and government functions. Educators will guide students through all elements of inquiry outlined in the Arizona History and Social Science standards, including asking questions, conducting research, using evidence, communicating conclusions, and taking informed action.

We the People: Students and the Constitution
This Academy is for educators who serve an upper elementary/middle/high school population. Event Overview
The We the People program promotes civic awareness and responsibility among 4th-12th grade students. Students explore the history and principles of our constitutional democracy through a deeper understanding of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and institutions of government. The program strengthens students’ critical thinking and public speaking skills, culminating in a simulated congressional hearing. Educators will receive an overview of the We the People program, evaluate a simulated hearing, and gain strategies for immediate classroom implementation. Educators who have previously attended a We the People Summer Institute are welcome to attend, as this session features different activities.
This training will coincide with the Arizona We the People State Competition & Showcase. The hearings will be utilized in the training as participants observe the hearings and evaluate the process.

When You Turn 18: Preparing Students for Financial Success
This Academy is for educators who serve a high school population. Free, private hotel accommodations and mileage reimbursement (up to $150) are available on a first come first serve basis to those traveling 100 miles or more one-way to attend the training.

Prepare your high school students for the legal and financial responsibilities that come with turning 18! This academy equips educators with the tools to empower their students in understanding crucial aspects of personal finance, including banking, credit, and legal obligations. Join us to ensure that your students step confidently into adulthood, equipped with the legal knowledge needed for financial success. Attendees will receive a set of the “When You Turn 18” booklets.

Mock Trial: Court in the Classroom
This Academy is for educators who serve a middle/high school population.
Event Overview
This academy will provide educators with the foundation to implement Mock Trial in the classroom. Conducting simulated trials in the classroom is an interactive way for students to learn about the judicial system and improve public speaking, writing, critical thinking, and research skills. Lessons and activities will provide a starting point for teaching courtroom knowledge including the steps in a mock trial, roles of courtroom personnel, rules of evidence, and the trial process.
SROs/JPOs are invited to attend; however, please note this training does not fulfill the yearly advanced LRE Academy requirement for School Safety Program funded officers.
