Students Create Change
Event Overview
This training uses the Project Citizen: Community Engagement in Public Policy program to engage youth in cooperative, project-based learning. Through participation, students are empowered to create positive change in their communities. By undertaking projects to address community needs, educators and students will gain a deeper understanding of public policy and government functions. Educators will guide students through all elements of inquiry outlined in the Arizona History and Social Science standards, including asking questions, conducting research, using evidence, communicating conclusions, and taking informed action.
Participants will be required to complete a series of short, online modules prior to attending the in-person training to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the program. Those who successfully complete the online modules on their own at home and attend the November academy will receive a FREE classroom set of Project Citizen textbooks (up to a $385 value) and $50 stipend. *Please note, to receive the textbooks and stipend, you must be an educator who directly teaches a class of students.
