Recognizing Red Flags in Relationships Academy

(Middle/High School)

Participant Agenda

 

Objectives: As a result of this training, participants will be able to… 

  • Recognize teen dating aggression and violence
  • Teach decision-making skills to prevent unhealthy relationships and grooming
  • Provide opportunities for students to learn how to avoid exploitation

8:30-9:00 AM     Check-In

Participants will sign-in and enjoy a continental breakfast.

 

9:00 AM     Introductions, Student Incentives, & Housekeeping

Introduction of academy faculty and staff. Learn about new student incentives and ordering procedures. Overview of academy objectives and housekeeping.

Academy Expectations

Participants will discuss expectations for the academy.       

 

Icebreaker

Participants will get to know their peers.

 

Lesson 1 What Makes a Healthy Relationship?

Participants will engage in a lesson demonstration that teaches youth the behaviors that make relationships healthy and unhealthy.

Lesson 2 Understanding Toxic Relationships

Participants will engage in a lesson demonstration that explains different types of manipulation and ways to respond to toxic behaviors.    

Lesson 3 Grooming and Exploitation

Participants will engage in a lesson demonstration that teaches youth what grooming is and how to recognize warning signs.

What Do You Think? Poll Question          

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the interactive poll question tool on LawForKids.org. 

Escape Room

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the escape rooms on LawForKids.org.       

Lesson 4 Social Media and Exploitation

Participants will engage in a lesson demonstration that teaches youth the difference between safe and risky online situations and how to respond safely.

Lesson 5 Human Trafficking

Participants will engage in a lesson demonstration that teaches youth the myths and facts on human trafficking along with safety tips.

Lesson 6 Setting Boundaries

Participants will engage in a lesson demonstration that teaches youth how to analyze situations using a decision-making process.

Wrap Up

Participants will review the training expectations and submit evaluations.

 

ADE Update

Participants will be informed of new updates.
