Clearing the Smoke: Vaping and Marijuana Education

Overview:
15% of youth surveyed in 2022 reported having used marijuana (AYS 2022). This training will provide participants with interactive methods to educate youth on the effects of marijuana and vaping on their development and future plans. The academy will equip participants with lessons to teach strategies to help students understand the consequences of illegal drug use and how laws are enacted to keep young people safe. Students will also learn how to apply social support systems to make healthy decisions.
Academy Objectives:
- Educate students on the long- and short-term risks associated with the use of vaping and marijuana
- Identify strategies to avoid unwanted peer pressure
- Teach the legal consequences connected with drug use
- Provide opportunities to practice making healthy decisions
