Kids Voting AZ Leadership Council

The Kids Voting Arizona Leadership Council (KVLC) is comprised of motivated middle and high school students who work to ensure that youth voices are heard through meaningful, educational election experiences. The council is administered by the Arizona Bar Foundation as part of its Kids Voting Arizona program.

Each KVLC member is supported by a teacher advisor who helps guide them throughout their time on the council. Members are expected to participate fully in all aspects of the council’s work. Foundation staff and teacher advisors provide support and guidance while empowering the students to make decisions. (Click here to apply to be a teacher advisor and nominate 2 students!)

The KVLC meets regularly to brainstorm strategies for increasing youth civic engagement and participation. They collaborate on ways to inspire their peers, increase voter turnout in their communities, and foster the next generation of informed citizen leaders.

The council is led by the following youth officers:

  • Chairperson: Prepares the meeting agenda, leads the meetings, and facilitates discussions to ensure all relevant topics are addressed and that effective decisions are made. The Chairperson also offers encouragement and support to all members.
  • Vice Chair: Works closely with the Chair to co-develop meeting agendas and is prepared to step in and lead when the Chair is unavailable.
  • Recording Secretary: Keeps the council organized by documenting meetings, maintaining records, and handling related paperwork.

All council members, including officers, have voting rights during motions. Foundation staff and teacher advisors do not vote on motions.

By lifting youth voices and empowering young leaders, the KVLC creates a strong foundation for lifelong civic engagement and community impact. Together, they are helping to shape a more informed and active generation of voters in Arizona!
