Recognizing Red Flags in Relationships

Overview:
Whether online or in-person, helping youth establish healthy relationships with sound decision-making skills can strengthen student success and safety. Lessons will be included that help students recognize toxic and/or grooming behavior. Grooming and recruitment tactics are often found with pressure to join gangs, be trafficked, or exploited. Being able to recognize unhealthy relationships may empower students to act, seek help, and support peers who may be in unhealthy relationships. Social media also plays a role in the tactics being used on youth to exploit their innocence and solicit them into criminal behavior on and off campus. This academy will teach participants how to equip their students with strategies to recognize red flags in relationships to be safe.
