We the People: Students and the Constitution

We the People: Students and the Constitution

Event Overview

The We the People program promotes civic awareness and responsibility among 4th-12th grade students. Students explore the history and principles of our constitutional democracy through a deeper understanding of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and institutions of government. The program strengthens students’ critical thinking and public speaking skills, culminating in a simulated congressional hearing. Educators will receive an overview of the We the People program, evaluate a simulated hearing, and gain strategies for immediate classroom implementation. Educators who have previously attended a We the People Summer Institute are welcome to attend, as this session features different activities.

This training will coincide with the Arizona We the People State Competition & Showcase. The hearings will be utilized in the training as participants observe the hearings and evaluate the process.

Attendees will receive a FREE classroom set of We the People textbooks (up to a $1,045 value). Those who have received a free set of We the People Level II or III textbooks through the Foundation between 2020-present, will not be eligible to receive another classroom set of textbooks. *Please note, to receive the textbooks, you must be an educator who directly teaches a class of students.
