Heather Pomeranz is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Course Coordinator in the School of Interdisciplinary Forensics at Arizona State University. In addition to her work at ASU, she teaches forensic science and criminal justice courses at the college level and specializes in creating realistic, case-based learning experiences that help students develop critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and investigative skills.
Prior to entering academia, Heather worked as a Crime Analyst with the San Diego Police Department, where she supported both patrol operations and criminal investigations. This experience provided valuable insight into the investigative process and the practical application of evidence, intelligence, and analytical techniques within the criminal justice system.
Heather has served as a judge for the Arizona Bar Foundation's CSI Arizona competitions for the past three years in both virtual and in-person events and has developed original forensic science competition scenarios used in their statewide program. She is passionate about making forensic science and criminal justice education engaging, accessible, and relevant for learners of all ages.
