Tres Rios Elementary School

Tolleson, AZ

David taught high school social studies for two years prior to teaching social studies at Sundance Elementary School. While teaching high school students, he completed the James Madison Legacy Project which included rigorous training on the We the People curriculum and completion of a simulated legislative hearing. David continued to seek new ways to educate his students by attending training for Project Citizen which he implemented in the same year. His passion for teaching and dedication to engaging his students in meaningful civics based projects created a great learning environment for his students. In 2018 at the Project Citizen State Showcase, his students won medals for their electronic portfolio submission on Project Parks. This year his students took the winning trophy at the State Showcase for their oral hearing presentation on Traffic Calming Our Neighborhoods! David plans on establishing the We the People and Project Citizen programs at his new school, Tres Rios Elementary. He would like to build middle school showcase teams with the goal of bringing his future students to the showcase events enabling them to strengthen their skills. His dedication can be seen in all that he does for his students!
