Miscellaneous Information

Position:Teacher

Vista Grande High School

Jason graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education in December 2009. He immediately went into his master’s program and in December 2011 graduated with his master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. He began teaching during the 2012-2013 school year with Geography and World History at Vista Grande High School in Casa Grande. The following year he began teaching Advanced Placement United States History. During the 2017-2018 school year he decided to check out We the People and attended the training during the State competition. After watching multiple teams compete, he fell in love with the program and that summer took a We the People Institute and began his We the People journey with two teams.

His teams did not make it to the State Competition that year, but Jason was still determined to continue with the program at Vista Grande. He volunteered to judge the State competition that year and learned a lot. The next year during the 2019-2020 school year, with the help of attorneys and other We the People faculty like Warren Burda, his team won the regional competition and did very well at State. COVID-19 did not do any favors with the program the following year, but Jason brought it back during the 2021-2022 school year. He did not have enough students for a full team but was able to have his students complete a showcase in the same format. Unfortunately, he was not able to secure a team for the 2022-2023 school year but will be looking at the 2023-2024 school year for a return. He is currently teaching American History, AP United States History, Government (some We the People lessons thrown in), and Economics. He looks forward to the future and what this year’s We the People students bring at competition!
